Entry for February 18, 2009 - High Schoolers with Disabilities and Sports Injuries
Pediatrics reports on a study of 210 high schoolers with disabilities who participated in a sports league. The rate of injury was 2 per 1000. Basketball, soccer, field hockey and softball were studied with soccer having the highest risk of injury. Children with autism were five times more likely to be injured. Children with seizures were 2.5 times more likely to be injured.
