How to Complete the Cross Lateral Brain Worksheets
There are different ways to use these mats. They increase in difficulty as you move through the packet.
Level One – Easiest Way to Use the Mats
Use the worksheets as simple mazes and prewriting practice. Start at the top and proceed to the bottom along the path to the matching animal.
Level Two
Mark the top dots as green and the bottom dots as red so students know where to stop and start. Tape the paper to the table or place it inside a binder cover to create a slant board. Use wipe-off markers and encourage using both the left and right hands at the same time to complete the paths.
Level Three
Tape the paper down. Complete the paths using the left and right hands at the same time but do not provide visual cues for the start and stop dots. This increases the challenge and encourages greater motor planning and coordination.
Level Four
For an added challenge, turn the pages in different directions and try completing the paths. Try turning the paper upside down or rotating it 90 degrees so the shorter side is at the top or bottom.
