  • scissors
  • glue stick or liquid glue

How Do You Make a Colorful Monster Out of Toilet Paper Rolls?

Here are the instructions for this toilet paper roll monster craft:

Step One

Give each child one toilet paper roll and one of the printable templates. Provide them with the markers, scissors and glue stick. If you choose, you can paint the cardboard roll a bright color and let it dry. You can skip that step or wrap the tubes in colored construction paper.

Step Two

Use crayons or markers to color in the eyes, mouth, hair, wings, horns, etc. on the template. Want to make it your own? Cut out colored paper for the hair, monster arms, monster wings, or horns and make your own crazy shapes to add to your monster.

Step Three

Cut out the monster parts and glue them onto the cardboard tube. You can choose to cut along the fine lines on the hair example to give the monster’s hair a 3-D look. If you do not have glue you could use double-sided tape. Let it dry.

Other Options – Monster Extras

If the kids can not use scissors yet to cut out the complex shapes of the monster features, you could use the template for ideas and draw the monster eyes and mouths onto the tubes. Another option is for an adult to cut out the shapes and the child could glue it to create the toilet paper roll monsters.

Kids love googly eyes. You can just glue those on if you want or grab sticker craft eyes. That is an awesome pincer grasp challenge to glue those onto the cardboard tube.

Twist pipe cleaners around your tubes to add lots of monster arms to your creation!
