HOW TO COMPLETE THE CROSSING MIDLINE MAZES

First of all, you might be wondering what is crossing midline and why is it even important? Crossing the midline is an important development milestone for children, as it helps get both sides of their brain and body working together. Not being able to reach across that imaginary mid line between the left and right sides of the body can lead to a host of problems with basic motor skills such as dressing independently or participating in sports activities like baseball throwing, not just handwriting or reading-related tasks. By practicing the skill of crossing the midline, kids are on the path towards healthy physical and cognitive development! You can read more about Crossing the Midline here.

STEP ONE: PRINT THE MAZES

Print the mazes. Cut out each visual motor exercise page on the black solid lines to create three long strips.

STEP TWO: GLUE THE SHEETS TOGETHER

Put the glue over the rectangles with the number one and number two. Glue together the three long strips to create a long pattern.

STEP THREE: COMPLETE THE CROSSING MIDLINE MAZES

Provide the student with a pencil. Start at the rocketship or the frog. Follow the directions on the maze page. The length of the maze will encourage the child to cross midline as they complete it from left to right.
