Description
Created by Anna Long-Slade, OTR, this Silly Stick Friends Handwriting Packet can help your students with letter and number formation. Children will enjoy playing the “teacher” role and find only the correct letters and numbers followed by handwriting practice.
The 117 page PDF digital document will be available electronically immediately following payment.
What is Included with the Silly Stick Friends Handwriting Packet?
Each page has 2 Silly Stick Friends (one is in a wheelchair) for the student to add details to. Students love this part and it is a great time during OT sessions to include fine motor control interventions by promoting the use of squiggles, shapes and colors to add hair, facial expressions and clothing to the Stick Friends.
Conversations about emotions and what the Stick Friends are feeling in their pictures can also be incorporated for students working on social skills and emotional intelligence.
Students also have to spot letters or numbers that were written correctly by the Stick Friends on their work sample.
Both double lines and tri-lines are provided for the students to practice the letter (lower case and upper case letters) or number formation. There is a highlighted model presented on each line for the student to reference.
A data tracking tool is included along with a reference chart for the language used in HWT for each letter/number formation, to promote consistent language use.
Who Should Use this Packet?
These pages are intended for use by Occupational Therapists, parents or teachers working on remediation skills specific to letter sizing, placement and reversals. The use of both double lines and tri-lines help students generalize proper letter formation on different types of paper.
This packet is meant to be used as a supplemental tool along with the Handwriting Without Tears® multi-sensory curriculum. Students who score below the expected range on the Handwriting Screening Tool or Print Tool may benefit from remediation instruction using pages from this packet specific to the letters and numbers needing remediation.
