Description
T.W.O. Tool – Toe Walking Observation Screening Tool
Do you work with children who exhibit toe walking? Is it difficult to objectively evaluate children who toe walk? The purpose of the T.W.O. Tool – Toe Walking Observation Screening Tool is to provide a screening and assessment to determine if a child presenting with a problem behavior of toe walking has the type that is sensory-based, and that will most likely respond to the use of Toe Tamers™. The T.W.O. Tool – Toe Walking Observation Screening Tool was developed by Ileana McCaigue, OTR/L, for use as an adjunct to the techniques and protocol outlined in the book, Taming Idiopathic Toe Walking: A Treatment Guide for Parents and Therapists.
The T.W.O. Tool – Toe Walking Observation Screening Tool utilizes a parent survey and clinical assessment to screen possible sensory processing and motor coordination difficulties. The tool is scored to help determine if the child exhibits sensory-based toe walking of unknown origin, as opposed to other clinical observations that may indicate an origin that is not primarily sensory-based. The screening tool should be performed under the supervision of a therapist.
