WHAT IS A PROPRIOCEPTIVE ACTIVITY?
Proprioceptive activities involve movements that help develop body awareness and regulate sensory input. They often include actions that provide resistance, deep pressure, or a sense of where your body is in space, helping with coordination, balance, and focus. These types of activities are incredibly beneficial for children, particularly those who may need extra sensory input to stay calm and attentive.
By engaging in tasks like rolling, stretching, and kneading – just like in this pizza-themed activity – students receive proprioceptive input in a playful and meaningful way.

HOW TO COMPLETE THE PIZZA PREP PROPRIOCEPTIVE ACTIVITY
Here’s how the activity works:
- Color the Pizza: Start by having your student color the pizza on the first page of the printable. This step is great for enhancing creativity and fine motor control.
- Cut Out the Pizza Slices: Once the pizza is fully colored, the student will cut out each of the eight slices. This strengthens scissor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Perform the Activities: On the second page, you’ll find eight proprioceptive tasks, such as hugging your knees tight like a pizza dough ball or moving your hands in circles like spreading pizza sauce. Each activity is designed to give the student essential proprioceptive input.
- Reassemble the Pizza: After completing each proprioceptive task, the student reassembles the pizza by placing each slice back together.
This hands-on approach supports sensory processing, encourages active participation, and promotes imaginative play.
