What Skills are Students Practicing with the Alphabet Brain Break?
This brain break encourages your students to practice:
- letter formation – BOTH uppercase and lowercase letters are included
- letter recognition
- fine motor skills
- gross motor skills

How Does the Alphabet Brain Break Work?
- Download the digital packet. Choose the FULL PAGE version or the SMALLER CARD version.
- Choose the letter that the student needs to practice or work on the entire uppercase and lowercase alphabet.
- The student can make the sign language letter, complete the physical activity pictured and practice writing the letter starting at the start dot.
If you do not want to print the PDF, you could mark up the document on your touchscreen (you may need a free Chrome extension like Kami to mark up the PDF).
When Is a Good Time to Use the Alphabet Brain Break?
This packet can be used for:
- whole class brain breaks – screencast the PDF to your projector screen. The students can move through the alphabet to review the letters. Encourage the children to use their entire hand and arms to air write the letters.
- individual practice sessions during ELA or Occupational Therapy sessions.
- carry over activities for practice at home.
- physical education class.
- obstacle courses – use the flashcards throughout an obstacle course.
- fine motor stations – combine full body learning at the fine motor stations.
If you do not want to print them over and over again, laminate the cards and your students can use wipe off markers on them.
