WHY ARE SELF REGULATION SKILLS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS?
Self regulation skills are the ability to control one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. These skills are important for students because they help to manage stress, stay on task and make good decisions.
Developing during the early years of life, self-regulation skills build a foundation for success but they can be learned and practiced at any age. There are many ways to promote self-regulation skills in students, such as providing opportunities for them to practice self-control, modeling appropriate self-regulation behaviors, and teaching coping strategies. Ultimately, self-regulation skills are an important part of a student’s toolkit for success in school and in life.
WHY ARE VISUAL MOTOR SKILLS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS?
Visual motor skills are the ability to use visual information to guide movement. This includes skills such as tracking a moving object, copying a figure, and writing from memory.
Visual motor skills are important for students because they are essential for academic success. For example, students need to be able to track a moving object in order to read fluently, and they need to be able to copy a figure in order to take accurate notes in class.
Additionally, visual motor skills are linked to fine motor skills, which are necessary for tasks such as holding a pencil and turning a page. Therefore, developing visual motor skills is an important part of ensuring academic success for students of all ages.
