June Writing Prompts – June 1 – June 15

June 1: Dare Day – Dare yourself to try something different, whether it be trying a new food or going for a run. What did you do? Did you like it?

June 2: National Rocky Road Day – Treat yourself to an ice cream cone and write about what it tasted like. Be descriptive!

June 3: World Bicycle Day – If you could ride your bicycle anywhere in the world, where would you choose to ride it and why?

June 4: National Hug your Cat Day – Even if you don’t have a cat, you can still participate! Hug any one of your pets and tell us about them. If you don’t have any pets, tell us what your dream pet would be?

June 5: World Environment Day – What can you do to protect the environment? From picking up litter to turning off the lights, come up with a plan to help the environment around you.

June 6: National Yo-Yo Day – Have you ever used a yo-yo? Pretend you are a world renowned yo-yo professional. Tell us about your travels and experience while on tour.

June 7: World Caring Day – Perform a random act of kindness today. What did you do and how did the person react?

June 8: National Best Friends Day – Tell us all about your best friend. What are some of the best things about them? If you want, share your writing with them.

June 9: National Donald Duck Day – Who’s your favorite cartoon character? If you could, what would you change about them?

June 10: National Iced Tea Day – What’s your favorite drink? How do you make it?

June 11: National Making Life Beautiful Day – Do something extra to pamper yourself today. How did it make you feel?

June 12: National Peanut Butter Cookie Day – What’s your favorite kind of cookie? Make up a recipe for the best cookies. If you have time, try to make them!

June 13: National Sewing Machine Day – If you could sew anything, what would you sew? What color fabric would you use? What specific details would you add?

June 14: Flag Day – If you could redesign your nation’s flag, what changes would you make? If you like your flag too much to change it, make sure you write down why!

June 15: Nature Photography Day – Go outside and take a picture in nature. What moment did you catch?

June 16: National Fudge Day – What’s your favorite kind of fudge? What do you like about it?

June 17: National Eat your Vegetables Day – Do you like vegetables? Why or why not? If you do, let us know what your favorite vegetable is!

June 18: National Splurge Day – What would you choose to splurge on and why?

June 19: World Sauntering Day – Take a slow walk outside. What do you see?

June 20: National Vanilla Milkshake Day and National Ice Cream Soda Day: Would you rather drink only vanilla milkshakes or only ice cream sodas for the rest of your life?

June 21: World Day of Music – What’s your favorite genre of music? Try writing your own song to fit the genre.

June 22: National Onion Ring Day – Onion rings are a famous appetizer at many restaurants. What’s your go-to appetizer and why?

June 23: National Pink Day – Wear pink today and tell us why you either love or hate the color.

June 24: National Take your Dog to Work Day – What would your dog do if you took them to work? If you don’t have a dog, write a story about an imaginary dog messing everything up at work.

June 25: National Catfish Day – Have you ever gone fishing? Did you catch any catfish? Tell us about your experience or make one up!

June 26: National Chocolate Pudding Day – Would you rather have chocolate pudding or vanilla pudding? Have you ever tried mixing them together?

June 27: National BINGO Day – You just won a million dollars playing BINGO. What would you do with the money?

June 28: National Alaska Day – What do you picture Alaska looking like? Describe it and then look up a picture to see if your description matches.

June 29: Hug Holiday – Hug someone you know and make them feel special. Then, tell us what is so special about them.

June 30: National Handshake Day – Write directions for a secret handshake and then try to teach it to someone.
